Quarterly Coffee mornings - NOW on TUESDAYS!
Puttin' on the coffee! Whether you are looking for someone to talk to or you can offer support to another, this morning is for you. Over coffee and treats, share stories, laughter and empathy and maybe even get answers to those burning questions from other parents. Calling all teens and young adults! If you're looking for a night of fun and dancing, then call all your friends and join us for our annual Valentine's day sweetheart dance.
Parents: Please be aware REGISTRATION is REQUIRED, as a waiver must be submitted in order for registration to be complete. If a waiver has not been received prior to (or at entrance to) the event the attendee will NOT be permitted to participate. William Watson Lodge
March 23rd & 24th(Please call William Watson Lodge directly in order to book 403-591-7227. They start taking reservations on Dec 1, 2011)
William Watson Lodge is located in Kananaskis Country. It is a facility specifically designed and built to accommodate people with special needs. You must have your child with special needs with you to stay there (note: families who would like to attend but do not have a child with special needs will need to stay with friends who do have a child with special needs.) There are units that have one, two or three bedrooms and are available for a cost of $30.00 - $40.00 per night (which each family is responsible for). In addition, units may come with a fireplace, a shower or bathtub with some units permitting dogs. The units are clean and well-maintained. It should be noted that units are without a phone or TV, making them quite peaceful.
There will be a wine and cheese planned for the Friday night, with our traditional Saturday morning breakfast supplied by Ups and Downs, but cooked by the attending Dads. Dad's are requested to be at the lodge for 8:30am to begin the cooking extravaganza. Breakfast is served at 9:30am, with all the families gathering at the main lodge to chow down on pancakes eggs, sausages, bacon and much more. After breakfast, Ups and Downs will have various activities planned for the families (TBA). On Saturday night, there will be a big potluck dinner at the main lodge for all the families starting at 5pm. After that, you are free to socialize or to spend a quiet night in your own private unit with your family.

Street Meet 2012!
Saturday, June 16th
Be sure to get out your sneakers out of the closet and start stretching those muscles as Street Meet 2012 is going to be bigger than ever before.
Fish Creek Park is the place to be on Saturday, June 16th. There will be food, fun and games for the whole family. ...and don't forget the prizes for all the top fundraisers, racers and raffle winners. Everyone who signs up prior to the T-shirt deadline date will receive a T-shirt commemorating the event. If you miss the deadline date, be sure to arrive early as we will have a few on hand for those registering the morning of.

Walk and Stroll
Saturday, August 11th
We'll be staking a stroll in Edworthy park! Come out to chat and connect with other families in the community. We'd love to see the kids, so bring a stroller and enjoy the fresh air while we walk along the bike path.
Where: Edworthy Park, Montgomery View Rd entrance. We'll meet at the footbridge on the North side of the river.
Time: 10:00am - 11:30am. We'll start our walk at 10:15am so be sure to be on time!
Theatre Camp for Teens and Young Adults

We are looking for enthursiastic people who would like to learn more about expressing themselves in front of an audience. Individuals registering should have a passion for drama and enjoy using their body to express themselves.
The camp is open to all teens and young adults with Down syndrome. The focus of the daily instruction will be on learning more about the use of physical theatre movement and pantomine as a means of expression. This camp will not be focusing on verbal communication or speaking roles typically found in most theatre camps.
*Space is limited so we ask those with a true love of performing to sign up.

Dinner & Dance
Celebrating Down Syndrome Awareness Week

There will be a separate room with a DVD and television and child caregivers hired for small children who do not like the music or can not sit still for dinner. There will also be a silent auction - so get ready to place your bids!
2012 Wonder Years Conference

Do you have a child with Down syndrome under the age of 5? Then you don't want to miss this year's conference! This conference was designed specifically for parents of infants and toddlers with Down syndrome. This year, we will be running concurrent sessions in the afternoon, so that families may attend the sessions that are of most interest to them.

Kid's Christmas Party

Santa is coming with bells and toys! Join us on as we ring in the jolly season! The kids canburn off some energy by balancing on beams, swinging from bars and bouncing into the foam pits. A pizzalunch will be provided.
