2010 Event Listing
Coffee mornings 3rd Monday of every monthPuttin' on the coffee! Whether you are looking for someone to talk to or you can offer support to another, this morning is for you. Over coffee and treats, share stories, laughter and sympathy and maybe even get answers to those burning questions from other parents. Teen & Young Adult Valentine's Dance

Telus World of Science
Saturday, February 6th
Time: 11:00am- 2:00pm (Funlab lunch at 12:00)
Location: Telus World of Science 701, 11th Street SW
Cost: FREE (if you have Science Centre passes please let us know)
Come join us for a day of fun and excitment at the Telus World of Science and Creative Kid's Museum. At 12:00pm there will be pizza and drinks in the Fun Lab. For extra fun, the scientists will be giving us a private science demonstration after lunch! To reserve a spot for your family to attend please call the office at 403-289-4394.
William Watson Lodge
March 19-21 (Please call William Watson Lodge directly in order to book 403-591-7227. They start taking reservations on Dec 1, 2009)
William Watson Lodge is located in Kananaskis Country. It is a facility specifically designed and built to accommodate people with special needs. You must have your child with special needs with you to stay there (note: families who would like to attend but do not have a child with special needs will need to stay with friends who do have a child with special needs.) There are units that have one, two or three bedrooms and are available for a cost of $30.00 - $40.00 per night (which each family is responsible for). In addition, units may come with a fireplace, a shower or bathtub with some units permitting dogs. The units are clean and well-maintained. It should be noted that units are without a phone or TV, making them quite peaceful.
There will be a wine a cheese planned for the Friday night, with our traditional Saturday morning breakfast supplied by Ups and Downs, but cooked by the attending Dads. Dad's are requested to be at the lodge for 8:30am to begin the cooking extravaganza. Breakfast is served at 9:30am, with all the families gathering at the main lodge to chow down on pancakes eggs, sausages, bacon and much more. After breakfast, Ups and Downs will have various activities planned for the families (TBA). On Saturday night, there will be a big potluck dinner at the main lodge for all the families starting at 5pm. After that, you are free to socialize or to spend a quiet night in your own private unit with your family.

Street Meet 2010!
Saturday, June 19th
Be sure to get out the sneakers out of the closet and start stretching those muscles as Street Meet 2010 is going to be bigger than ever before.
Fish Creek Park is the place to be on Saturday, June 19th. There will be food, fun and games for the whole family. ...and don't forget the prizes for all the top fundraisers, racers and raffle winners. Everyone who signs up prior to the T-shirt deadline date will receive a T-shirt commemorating the event. If you miss the deadline date, be sure to arrive early as we will have a few on hand for those registering the morning of.

Theatre Camp
for Teens and Young Adults
July 26 - 30
(1/2 day camp from 9:00am - 12:00)
We've hired Theatre-A-Go-Go to run our 1st ever summer drama camp. We are looking for enthursiastic people who would like to learn more about expressing themselves in front of an audience. This year's drama camp will run from July 20 - 30, and individuals registering should have a passion for drama and enjoy using their body to express themselves.
The camp is open to all teens and young adults with Down syndrome. The focus of the dail instruction will be on learning more about the use of physical theatre movement and pantomine as a means of expression. This camp will no be focusing on verbal communication or speaking roles typically found in most theatre camps.
*Space is limited so we ask those witha true love of performing to sign up.
Cost: $125 for week

Walk and Stroll
Saturday, August 14th
We'll be staking a stroll in Edworthy park! Come out to chat and connect with other families in the community. We'd love to see the kids, so bring a stroller and enjoy the fresh air while we walk along the bike path.
Where: Edworthy Park, Montgomery View Rd enterance. We'll meet at the footbridge on the North side of the river.
Time: 10:00am - 11:30am. We'll start our walk at 10:15am so be sure to be on time!

The Great Pumpkin Hunt

Join us for our 3rd annual pumpkin hunt at Butterfeild Acres! We have 1 wagon booked so this year we'll all be heading out together. As we only have 60 seats in our wagon, registration will be on a first come first serve basis...so be sure to register early in order not to be disappointed (call 403-289-4394).

There will be a separate room with a DVD and television and child caregivers hired for small children who do not like the music or can not sit still for dinner. There will also be a silent auction - so get ready to place your bids!
2010 Wonder Years Conference
